Ingredients for 6 servings
Cabbage, raw908 g“908 grams / 1head, medium (about 5-3/4 diameter)”The source line leaves out the word 'cabbage'; the title and method make it a head of cabbage.
Onion, raw80 g“80 grams / 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion”
Carrot, raw64 g“64 grams / 1/2 cup sliced carrots”
Ham, sliced680 g“680 grams / 1 1/2 pound ham slice”A ham slice can be anything from lean roasted ham (about 0 g carbs per 100 g) to sweetened deli ham. We use sliced deli ham (4.5 g per 100 g), the higher figure, so it never undercounts. Check your ham's label.
Coconut oil30 g“30 grams / 2 tablespoons coconut oil”
Steps
  1. Cut the cabbage, carrot, onion and ham into bite-size pieces.
  2. Put everything in a pot (or a pressure cooker) with the coconut oil and any seasoning, and cover with water.
  3. Simmer until the cabbage is tender, several hours on the stove; add water if it runs low. In a pressure cooker it is much quicker.
  4. Divide into 6 equal portions; weigh the pot to make the portions even.

Water is not counted. Optional garlic, curry powder, herbs or chilies would need weighing and counting.
